OUT OF THE BLUE

The Tonneau collection is designed to explore the combination of vivid colour and clean lines, and the Paris is the epitome of that aim. The dial is a metallic royal blue that was inspired by Parisian street signs. However, thanks to its vertical brushed finish the colour transforms in the light into an almost electric blue. This dynamic colour is the ideal backdrop for the brilliant white hour markers, which are a mix of batons and Roman numerals. These applied markers have a modern, sans-serif design, and are paired with a simple gloss white baton handset. Together these strikingly contrast with the rich blue hues of the dial. The final design element is the discreet minute track, which features a matte texture that provides a break in the brushed dial finish. Altogether, the various elements of the Paris produce a watch that is both practically legible and aesthetically striking, showing that design doesn’t have to be a trade-off between form and function.

Features

Curved Crystal - The sapphire crystal is curved to match the shape of the case and features a bevelled edge to provide some subtle detailing. To improve legibility, the underside has been given an anti-reflective coating.

Curved Case - The steel case has a curved top that flows with your wrist, while the case sides are engraved with an outline emphasising the sleek shape. What’s more, the case is remarkably slim, measuring just 7.2mm across the curve, and 10.6mm in total.

Clean Lines - As well as being curved to the shape of the wrist, the tonneau case has a polished chamfered edge that tapers away at the underside.

Premium movement - Inside the watch ticks a premium Sellita SW300-1 Automatic movement. This calibre has 25 jewels, a beat rate of 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz), and a 56-hour power reserve.

Vapour Coated Rotor - In a first for Farer, the movement’s winding rotor has been vapour coated to match the dial colour.

STORY

The Paris is inspired by the classic two-hand cushion-cased watches of the 1970s. These watches were notable for putting a spin on traditional two-hand watches through the use of unique cases shapes, dial textures and colours. The Paris looks to continue this tradition and is of course named after France’s capital city because the dial colour is inspired by the blue of the city’s street signs.
