BURGUNDY BEAUTY

The Thorne gives the World Timer a bold new aesthetic with its burgundy colour palette. The main dial features an elegant guilloché pattern that is coated in a polished, clear lacquer to enhance the depth of both the colour and the pattern. The white numbers and batons mounted onto this surface are made from Lumicast, solid blocks of ceramic blended with Super-LumiNova. This ensures that they offer excellent clarity under any lighting conditions. The handset consists of polished alpha-shaped hour and minute hands, inset with Super-LumiNova, whilst the polished second hand has a burnt orange Farer 'A' tip.

The world timer complication that gives the collection its name comprises of two elements. The first is a rotating 24-hour disc that sits in the centre of the dial. Much like a GMT hand, the whole disc rotates once every 24 hours. The other half of the World Timer complication is the bidirectional rotating bezel that is mounted against the edge of the dial, and printed with the names of 24 cities, one for each main time zone. It’s operated via the crown at 10 o’clock, and when aligned with the 24-hour disc, it allows the wearer to read the time in 24 different time zones simultaneously.

The last element on the dial is the circular date window at three, with the wheel colour-matched to the dial. With over 40 manufacturing processes going into creating an individual dial, the World Timer will please even the sharpest horological eye.

FEATURES

World Time - With a rotating 24-hour disc, and a rotating city bezel, you can see the time in 24 cities simultaneously.

Easy Wearer - The Farer World Timer has a sleek 39mm case, crafted from 316L stainless steel, and is a mere 11mm thick. Combined with a 45mm lug-to-lug, this means that the World Timer is exceptionally easy for anyone to wear.

Reliable Mechanics - The World Timers use the Sellita SW331-2. This Swiss automatic calibre features a rotating disc instead of a GMT hand, and has 25 jewels and a 56-hour power reserve. This is the Elaboré version of the movement and is adjusted for accuracy in four positions. As a finishing touch, the calibre has been given Top Grade finishing and a custom rotor that is colour-matched to the world map on the 24-hour disc.

Tough Time - Each World Timer is designed for durability, with a domed sapphire crystal with an internal anti-reflective coating and 100m water resistance.

Night Light - The hour markers of the World Timer are made from Lumicast, solid blocks moulded from a blend of ceramic and Super-LumiNova. These pure white shapes provide unparalleled legibility under any conditions.

STORY

The Thorne is named after Robert Thorne, who was one of the first English explorers of North America. Between 1501 and 1505, Thorne was one of a handful of Bristol merchants to embark on voyages to the Americas, which were undertaken with a license from King Henry VII and with the aim of establishing new trade avenues. In 1510, Thorne was appointed to a commission of the Admiralty in connection with trade to Portugal, and in 1514-15, he served as Mayor of Bristol. He died in 1519.
