The Dive Compressor, Reinvented.

The Dive Compressor, Reinvented.

Farer’s Aqua Compressor range brings a dive watch technology out of the depths of history - the Super Compressor.

Originally invented in the 1950s by Ervin Piquerez S.A., the super compressor was designed to achieve greater water resistance by using the water pressure exerted on the case to further compress the watch’s gaskets and thus make it more watertight. Farer has resurrected this novel technology for our Aqua Compressor collection, which uses modern materials such as a lightweight titanium case, sapphire crystal, and Super-LumiNova.

With the Aqua Compressor collection, Farer is supporting the marine conservation charity Hebridean Whale and Dolphin Trust. A portion of the profits from the sale of each Aqua Compressor will go to the trust to help protect the fragile state of our sealife through their programme of research. Creating meaningful change for the future of Scottish Hebridean marine life.

We are proud to have already raised £40,500 with our first and second series, and with the third release of the Aqua Compressors, we aim to hit our target of £60,000.

Thank you for your support.

DIVE FUNCTION

Whether you’re looking for a dive buddy or a go-everywhere timepiece, the specification and hypoallergenic finish of the Titanium Series Aqua Compressor collection delivers a set of highly wearable and robust tool watches. Developed to put clarity at the forefront, the dial designs are a bold take on the Farer classic. With oversized split minute hand marking, used for quick identification of time elapsed against the internal bezel.

SUPER-LUMINOVA

As a diver, clarity and accuracy is paramount. Each Titanium Series Aqua Compressor dive watch has a series of high contrast dial colours and Super-LumiNova detailing to show the core information. It works like a light storage battery, where light charges the surface and afterwards the light is continuously emitted. Mixed with a specific binder, Swiss Super-LumiNova is applied on all Aqua Compressor dials and hands.

QUICK-RELEASE

Each Aqua Compressor is supplied with a quick release natural rubber strap, finished with a secure oversized titanium tool buckle featuring the Farer ‘A’ and wave pattern detailing inner grip. A new addition for Series 2 release is our quick release matching oyster style, brushed marine grade titanium tapered bracelet, with three way folding clam clasp closure and safety locking mechanism.

TITANIUM STRENGTH

The Titanium Series is lighter and tougher than its stainless steel counterparts, and along with its extremely corrosive-resistant properties makes the perfect material for a dive watch. The case engineering is designed around the compression principle: as the water pressure on the outside of the case increases, gaskets built around the key areas are naturally compressed, so that the case becomes more water resistant the deeper you dive.

TWIN CROWNS

The twin crowns are screw-down, spring-back release with their own gaskets, allowing the watch to be taken to depths of 300m / 1000ft. The signature Farer solid bronze crown allows you to adjust the time and features the Farer ‘A’ carved out of a squared texture for feel. The titanium crown allows you to adjust the internal dive time bezel, with the classic Super-Compressor hatching detail for feel.

UNI-DIRECTIONAL BEZEL

Compressor watches have always had a more modern and sleek look than the conventional divers, allowing the lines of the case to merge with the crystal. The unidirectional internal bezel under the crystal is for the measurement of dive time, moving by increments of one minute. The bezel utilises a precision ratchet safety system which disconnects the feed from crown to bezel by only turning it anti-clockwise, preventing any increase in the diving time.

TRUSTED MOVEMENT

The Titanium Series Aqua Compressor collection is powered by the Swiss-made SELLITA SW200-1 Elaboré Non-Date Movement. This is a rare piece from SELLITA, in that it features no ‘ghost date’ within the mechanics to make this 100% functional for the diver’s needs. A highly reliable workhorse movement, adjusted in three positions.

EXHIBITION BACK

Not ones to hide anything away, we believe quality movements should be seen and appreciated. We have developed a screw down back case to hold the flat sapphire crystal exhibition glass, both utilising compressor gaskets to secure the water resistance and withstand the high pressures to 300m/1000ft. Each watch is individually numbered around the exhibition glass, making your watch unique to you.

BESPOKE ROTOR

Turning over the Titanium Series Aqua Compressor case you’ll see the bespoke SELLITA rotor has been detailed in a raised bronze overprinting technique with the Farer submersible three wave design and lettering. As an Elaboré movement it has been finished with snailing (or as the French say more eloquently ‘Perlage’), a round fine detailed decoration on the metal to beautifully catch the light. Powering a 38 hour reserve when the movement is fully wounded.

REVIEWS
Given that this price point makes the new Chrono-Contempo more affordable than comparable options from brands such as Hamilton and Tissot, this latest release from Farer ultimately presents a rather compelling option within the landscape of mechanical chronographs, and it pairs a proven Swiss-made movement with the brand’s signature colorful design language.
By now we’re used to Farer’s unique flavour of design. That’s to say, taking a classic archetype of a watch and playing around with colour and details to give it more than a fresh coat of paint. Usually though, that’s been tackling things like GMTs, Super Compressors, racing chronographs, a run of watches the word ‘accessible’ feels at home next to. But now the British brand is doing something I never would have expected from them: the Farer Tonneau Collection.
I’m always conscious of sounding like a broken record when I talk about Farer because without fail, I mention how they are the masters of bold colours. I could realistically point to any of their new watches from across the last two years and they’d be fun, fresh and colourful.
There is no question, if you wanted to use the Farer as the archetypal definition of a British watch, it would be an excellent choice. Its inspiration is deep and meaningful, and the character Farer has tried to inject into the design works very well. This does feel like a vintage traveller watch.
At its price point, just under a thousand, the Aquamatic has some stiff competition... With all that said, Farer blows the competition out of the water. The Aquamatic’s closest competitor in terms of quality and attention to detail probably lies several hundred dollars north. The quality and number of fine details on the Aquamatic are astonishing, given the price.
