GREEN-LIT

The Milan draws its inspiration from a surprising source, that of green-glazed ceramics. Green pottery has been produced across the world for millennia, from medieval Britain to ancient China, with rich hues that evoke those found in nature. The Milan looks to capture the magic of this timeless colour, and so its vibrant dial is what takes centre stage. It’s a rich emerald green, with a mesmerizing pattern of concentric ridges. The dial has then been lacquered, to add richness to the surface and enhance the various green tones. The end result is a gamut of green shades that follow the lighter highlights and deeper hues seen in those historic ceramics. Set against this lustrous backdrop are polished silver batons and Arabic markers. These have a rounded top so that they catch the light from every angle, and they’re paired with a clean polished baton handset.

Features

Curved Crystal - The sapphire crystal is curved to match the shape of the case and features a bevelled edge to provide some subtle detailing. To improve legibility, the underside has been given an anti-reflective coating.

Curved Case - The steel case has a curved top that flows with your wrist, while the case sides are engraved with an outline emphasising the sleek shape. What’s more, the case is remarkably slim, measuring just 7.2mm across the curve, and 10.6mm in total.

Clean Lines - As well as being curved to the shape of the wrist, the tonneau case has a polished chamfered edge that tapers away at the underside.

Premium movement - Inside the watch ticks a premium Sellita SW300-1 Automatic movement. This calibre has 25 jewels, a beat rate of 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz), and a 56-hour power reserve.

Vapour Coated Rotor - In a first for Farer, the movement’s winding rotor has been vapour coated to match the dial colour.

STORY

The Milan is inspired by the classic two-hand cushion-cased watches of the 1970s. These watches were notable for putting a spin on traditional two-hand watches through the use of unique cases shapes, dial textures and colours. The Milan looks to continue this tradition and is of course named after the famous Italian city. The reason for this is because firstly it aims to embody the spirit of the city during that era, and the name is also a nod to the fact that the dial was inspired by Italian green-glazed ceramics.
