RED, WHITE, AND BLUE

The focus of the London is geometry and proportion, inspired by two-hand watches of the mid-seventies. For example, the white dial is dominated by a pattern of three-dimensional concentric ridges that lend the face texture and depth, as well as drawing your eye towards the midnight blue baton hands. Set into the dial are red Arabic numerals. These cut through the dial pattern and produce a stepped effect that helps to enhance the depth that the ridges provide. Meanwhile, their alternating sizes help to prevent the layout from looking uniform and draw the eye back from the centre to the rest of the dial. Finally, framing these elements is a blue railroad minute track. The focus on shape naturally extends to the rest of the watch, with the curved sapphire crystal and distinctive tonneau-shaped case designed to follow the curve of the wrist and offer a streamlined silhouette.

Features

Curved Crystal - The sapphire crystal is curved to match the shape of the case and features a bevelled edge to provide some subtle detailing. To improve legibility, the underside has been given an anti-reflective coating.

Curved Case - The steel case has a curved top that flows with your wrist, while the case sides are engraved with an outline emphasising the sleek shape. What’s more, the case is remarkably slim, measuring just 7.2mm across the curve, and 10.6mm in total.

Clean Lines - As well as being curved to the shape of the wrist, the tonneau case has a polished chamfered edge that tapers away at the underside.

Premium movement - Inside the watch ticks a premium Sellita SW300-1 Automatic movement. This calibre has 25 jewels, a beat rate of 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz), and a 56-hour power reserve.

Vapour Coated Rotor - In a first for Farer, the movement’s winding rotor has been vapour coated to match the dial colour.

STORY

The London is inspired by the classic two-hand cushion-cased watches of the 1970s. These watches were notable for putting a spin on traditional two-hand watches through the use of unique cases shapes, dial textures and colours. The London looks to continue this tradition and is of course named after England’s capital city because it aims to embody the spirit of the city during that era.
