EYE-CATCHER

The Chalcot offers a unique take on the “Big Eye” chronograph, so named because the chronograph’s minute counter is larger than the other sub-dials. On the Chalcot that sub-dial is white to contrast against the mint green of the rest of the watch face, and the main dial is textured to prevent it from looking flat. At the top of the dial, you’ll notice an applied polished twelve, with polished batons serving as the other hour markers. Naturally, these and the hands are filled with BGW9 Super-LumiNova for low-light legibility. The hour and minute hands are tapered batons painted pure white, with mint green lume to match the dial. Lastly, the chronograph seconds hand provides a burst of contrasting colour, being a fluorescent orange.

Features

Sublime Slopes - The lugs are the defining feature of the Chrono-Contempo’s case. In addition to a large polished chamfer that cuts into the brushed finish, the lugs themselves have a “ski slope” shape where the tips curve slightly upwards. It’s a subtle touch that has a big impact on how the watch feels on the wrist.

Supreme Comfort - The Chalcot’s case measures 38.5mm in diameter and is made of 316L stainless steel. As to the watch’s thickness, its total depth is only 13.4mm, which makes the Chalcot remarkably easy to wear.

Glow Up - The hands, hour markers, and bezel have all had applications of BGW9 Super-LumiNova, ensuring legibility under any circumstances.

Continental GMT - The bezel is bidirectional and has a ceramic insert that’s etched with a twelve-hour scale so that it can be used to track a second time zone.

Swiss Precision - Inside the watch beats a manually wound Swiss Sellita SW510M b movement. This dependable calibre is the perfect choice to rely on to keep the Chrono-Contempo ticking away, and it has 23 jewels, Incabloc shock protection and a large 63-hour power reserve.

STORY

The Chalcot is named after Chalcot Square in London. The reason for this is twofold. Firstly, the square is a stone’s throw away from our offices in Primrose Hill, making it an apt choice. And, secondly, the facades of the terraced houses are painted in a variety of bright pastel colours, which served as an inspiration for the watch. Chalcot Square was laid out in the mid-19th century, and the houses are built in the Italianate style, which draws on elements of Italian Renaissance architecture. Over the years the square has been the residence of many notable individuals, such as poets Sylvia Plath and Ted Hughes, Led Zeppelin’s Robert Plant, David and Ed Milliband, and playwright Alan Bennet.
