MARKHAM II and World Timer Classic Steel Bracelet

MICRO PIQUÉ DETAIL

The Markham World Timer combines a classic red, white and blue colour scheme with an eye-catching guilloché dial. Onto this are mounted polished batons and numerals that are filled in deep blue, and these are paired with a matching blue alpha-shaped handset. The hands have been updated for 2024, with a blunter, more contemporary shape, and are filled with mint green Super-LumiNova, whilst the tip of the seconds hand is the Farer ‘A’ in blue.

At the centre of the dial is the rotating 24-hour disc that, along with the rotating outer bezel, enables you to read the time anywhere in the globe. Much like a GMT hand, the whole disc rotates once every 24 hours. The red and blue 24-hour scale is now even bolder, and inside it is printed a world map in blue and white.

The bidirectional rotating bezel is operated via the crown at 10 o’clock, and for 2024, the cities printed onto the bezel have been updated. Chicago replaces Mexico City, Beijing replaces Hong Kong, and lastly, Paris has been replaced by Bienne to mark where the World Timers are produced. The last element on the dial is the circular date window at three, with the wheel colour-matched to the dial. With over 40 manufacturing processes going into creating an individual dial, the Markham will please even the sharpest horological eye.

Features

World Time - With a rotating 24-hour disc, and a rotating city bezel, you can see the time in 24 cities simultaneously.

Easy Wearer - The Farer World Timer has a sleek 39mm case, crafted from 316L stainless steel, and is a mere 11mm thick. Combined with a 45mm lug-to-lug, this means that the World Timer is exceptionally easy for anyone to wear.

Custom Movement - The World Timers use a unique SW330-1. This Swiss automatic calibre is specially customised to meet our requirements by Sellita. A rotating disc has replaced the GMT hand, and the calibre has been upgraded to extend the power reserve to 50 hours. This is the Elaboré version of the movement and is adjusted for accuracy in four positions. Meanwhile, the custom rotor is coloured to match the landmass on the dial’s 24-hour disc.

Tough Time - Each World Timer is designed for durability, with a domed sapphire crystal with an internal anti-reflective coating and 100m water resistance.

STORY

Named after Albert Hastings Markham - remembered at the time of his death in 1918 by The Globe newspaper as ‘one of the most arresting figures of his time’. Born in 1841, Markham was an explorer and officer in the Royal Navy - taking part in numerous engagements across the globe, from the Second Opium War in China to chasing down Australian blackbirding ships in the South Pacific. He later became well-known for his exploration and journeyed to within 400 miles of the North Pole, whilst also visiting native reservations in the United States and exploring Baffin Bay and the Arctic Ocean archipelago of Novaya Zemlya.
