The Libre is a bold take on the “big-eye” chronograph, so named because the chronograph’s minute counter is larger than the other sub-dials. Rich burgundy elements punctuate the textured white dial, with the minute sub-dial segmented into thirds, each a slightly different hue. The applied hour batons have a burgundy PVD coating, and the tapered handset is painted a gloss burgundy as well. Both are filled with BGW9 Super-LumiNova that ensures the watch is readable 24/7. The last burgundy element that ties the design together is the burgundy dial print and minute track.
Contrasting against this dominant burgundy and while colour palette, both the chronograph seconds and minute hands are in sky blue. This sparse use of a tertiary colour allows you to pick out the hands with ease. This two-tone colour scheme offers stark contrast and excellent legibility, whilst simultaneously evoking the punchy colours seen in classic motorsports.

FEATURES
Continental GMT - The bezel is bidirectional and has a ceramic insert that’s etched with a twelve-hour scale so that it can be used to track a second time zone.
Sublime Slopes - The lugs are the defining feature of the Racing Chronograph’s case. In addition to a large polished chamfer that cuts into the brushed finish, the lugs themselves have a “ski slope” shape where the tips curve slightly upwards. It’s a subtle touch that has a big impact on how the watch feels on the wrist.
Supreme Comfort - The case measures 38.5mm in diameter and is made of 316L stainless steel. As to the watch’s thickness, its total depth is only 13.4mm, which makes the watch remarkably easy to wear.
Glow Up - The hands, hour markers, and bezel have all had applications of BGW9 Super-LumiNova, ensuring legibility under any circumstances.
Swiss Precision - Inside the watch beats a manually wound Swiss Sellita SW510M b movement. This dependable calibre is the perfect choice to rely on to keep the Racing Chronograph ticking away, and it has 23 jewels, Incabloc shock protection and a large 63-hour power reserve.
STORY
The watch is named after Formula Libre, a type of automobile racing that allows cars of a range of types, ages, and makes to compete together. It’s a classification that dates back to the late 1920s, when the strict rules that governed Grand Prix racing were abandoned. Such freedom and variety mirror Farer’s approach to design, where the rules are bent or disregarded to produce unique and memorable watches.
The chronograph was invented in 1815 by Louis Moinet. However, it was not until the 1950s that dedicated racing chronographs came to prominence. With the increasing popularity of motor racing in the post-war era, watch companies worked to improve chronograph movements and create watches dedicated to timing motorsports. Their popularity only continued to rise as they were seen on the wrists of great celebrities, which led to the racing chronograph entering popular culture and cementing their place as one of the great icons of watchmaking.
