RARE BIRDS

The 36mm GMT collection condenses Farer’s iconic Lander GMT into a new sleek 36mm case. The original Lander is our most popular model so, for the first time ever, Farer has chosen to keep the same overall design and offer it in three different colour palettes. There’s the original sea-green Lander IV, the spearmint Sea Coast, and the pink Kano, and each one packs a punch of playful colour. These new watches are some of the smallest automatic GMTs on the market, making them rare sights in horology.

A TRAVELLERS COMPANION

The GMT function dates back to 1884 when an international convention declared Greenwich, England as the ‘Mean Time’ against which the rest of the world’s time zones would be compared. The ‘local’ hour/minute hands work on 12-hour time, while the ‘dual time’ GMT hand is independently adjustable to set to any 24-hour time zone.

The dials of each GMT perfectly combine playful colours with exceptional legibility. Each has a sunburst finish that shimmers in the sun and features a triple step to create a subtle sense of depth. Printed over this eye-catching dial are bold Arabic numerals that are filled with Super-LumiNova to ensure that they’re readable in the dark. These are complemented by a printed 24-hour scale and minute track, as well as a discreet date window at three o’clock. Lastly, there’s Farer’s classic syringe handset, along with a seconds hand and GMT hand in vibrant contrasting colours.

EFFORTLESSLY ELEGANT

The GMT watches use a 36mm stainless steel case that’s just 11mm thick, including the box sapphire crystal. The crystal provides some mesmerizing distortion when viewed at an angle, whilst the case itself features beautifully curved polished sides. The tops of the lugs are brushed, and the lug width is 20mm, which helps to give the GMTs a good presence on the wrist. The crown is inset with a bronze cap, embellished with the Farer A, which will patina over time.

MODERN HERITAGE

MODERN HERITAGE

Through the sapphire case back you can see the movement powering each GMT, which is the Sellita SW330-2. This automatic calibre is known for its reliability and it features 25 jewels, a beat rate of 4Hz, and a 56-hour power reserve. Furthermore, the GMTs use the Top Grade version of the movement, which means that it’s been adjusted for accuracy in five positions. As you watch the movement tick away, you can also admire the custom skeletonised rotor and perlage finish on the bridgework.
