PURPLE BLAZE
Discovery sets out a classic form with bold modernity, through the use of a special finish, vertical brushed purple sunray that floods the dial. Starting out as a deep purple, almost black, when viewed out of direct light, the sunray finish explodes with a kaleidoscopic effect of rich purple tones when hit with direct light. Applied mirror numerals and markers frame the chamfered purple dial, infilled in off-white Super-LumiNova with matching finish syringe-style hands and sweeping seconds tipped in a pop of burnt orange. A unique combination that juxtaposes an elegant timepiece with our unreserved love of colour.
Features
Universal Case - The case is 39.5mm in diameter, with a 45mm lug-to-lug and a thickness of only 10.8mm, making it easy for anyone to wear.
Weekend Warrior - The watch is powered by a La Joux-Perret G101 movement. This automatic Swiss calibre comes with an impressive 68-hour power reserve. It is finished to La Joux-Perret's "soignée" standard, the highest grade of their calibre, which is adjusted to 4 positions.
Night Light - The hands and markers are filled with luminous Super-LumiNova for supreme legibility in the dark.
Crystal Clear - The watch dial is protected by a domed box sapphire crystal, which has an internal anti-reflective coating. There is also a sapphire exhibition glass on the watch's rear.
STORY
Named after Royal Research Ship Discovery, she was the last traditional wooden three-masted ship to be built in the United Kingdom and launched in 1901. Her first mission was the British National Antarctic Expedition, carrying Robert Falcon Scott and Ernest Shackleton on their first journey to the Antarctic, now known as the Discovery Expedition 1901 - 1904. The work was truly groundbreaking - recording valuable information on the oceans, marine life and being the first scientific investigation into whale populations. After an extensive restoration project, Discovery is now the centrepiece of a visitor attraction today in the city where she was built, Dundee.
