BOLT OF BLUE
The Balfour is the perfect example of how less can be more. Punctuating the jasmine white dial are the hour markers. These applied numerals are finished in a vivid electric blue that contrasts wonderfully with the neutral dial. The tapered hands have a matching blue finish and are filled with the latest (and brightest) Grade X2 Super-LumiNova. The polished blue surfaces of both elements are incredibly dynamic, shifting in colour as the lighting changes, whilst always being easy to read. At six o’clock sits a sunken sub-seconds dial in a warm grey that complements the main dial colour, and on either side of the numerals sit dual minute tracks in the same grey tone with blue highlights.
As you would expect, this refined dial is protected by a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal. And, it’s housed within an incredibly svelte 38mm steel case finished to the highest “Grade A” standard, something that’s usually only seen on the most premium Swiss watches. It’s a markedly thin case, being just 7.95mm thick, and with its curved lugs, it hugs the wrist perfectly.
All of which makes this the epitome of modern sophistication. A watch that’s sleek enough to sit unnoticed on the wrist, with a dial bold enough to make a confident statement, and an exceptionally high level of finishing throughout every element.
FEATURES

Bright Blue - The Balfour's hands are filled with the newest Grade X2 Super-LumiNova. It is easier to activate than older grades and lasts longer than the standard grade of Super-LumiNova.

Manual Drive - The watch is powered by the La Joux-Perret D100. Based on the venerable Peseux 7001, this hand-wound Swiss calibre is only 2.5mm thick, has 18 jewels, a 3Hz beat rate, and a 50-hour power reserve. The watch has the highest grade of movement offered, the soigné with blued screws. This means that each movement is adjusted in 4 positions, and features extensive custom decoration, with blued screws, diamond-polished chamfers, and côtes de genève finishing on the bridgework.

Making The Grade - The steel case is finished to the highest possible industry standard, known as Grade A. This top-tier finishing provides the Lissom with an impeccably polished bezel and lug tops that reflect the light in a way you would normally expect to only see on precious metals. Meanwhile, the case sides have a satin brushed finish that serves to emphasise the flawless polishing.

Think Thin - The Lissom’s case was designed from the ground up to be the pinnacle of understated elegance. At 38mm in diameter, it’s the ideal size for a modern day-dress watch. It’s only 7.95mm thick, and thanks to its angled lugs, it hugs the wrist so much that it's easy to forget that you’re wearing it. Though the Lissom is already impressively thin, the case sides are engraved with a keyline that breaks up the shallow profile and makes it look even thinner.

Less Is More - The Lissom’s dial is an effortless blend of refined elegance and sophisticated colour. The design is characterised by a set of sharp radially mounted numerals and an angular, tapered handset. A recessed sub-seconds dial at six o'clock completes the elegant look.
STORY
The watch is named after Isaac Bayley Balfour (1853-1922), a noted professor of botany at the universities of Edinburgh, Glasgow, and Oxford. Balfour followed in his father’s footsteps to also become a botanist. During his career, he undertook several scientific expeditions to remote islands in the Indian Ocean and founded the notable scientific journal, Annals of Botany. However, his most notable contribution to botany comes from his appointment to Regius Keeper of the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh, which he extensively redeveloped and enhanced. He is also recognised for convincing the War Office to adopt sphagnum moss bandaging in military hospitals during the First World War. By the war’s end, over a million of these dressings were being used each month in British hospitals, and they undoubtedly saved many lives.
