The Barnwell blends the classic Type B pilot watch dial layout with a rich burnished brown colour scheme punctuated by dashes of contrasting blue and orange. Type B pilot watches are distinguished by an oversized minute track and a smaller inner hour scale, which makes it easier to measure elapsed time to the minute. The doudecimal segmented dial is inspired by the fan blades of a jet engine. Each segment is sloped anti-clockwise to create a unique appearance as you examine the dial from different angles. Against this backdrop sits the raised hour and minute scale, supported by a sloped sky blue minute track that gives the dial another level of height. For optimum legibility, the lozenge handset is fluorescent orange, as is the tip of the seconds hand. Both the hands and dial markers use Grade X2 Super-LumiNova for nighttime visibility. The Farer 'A' beneath twelve o'clock is applied, and the lettering "Farer" and "Universal" is raised slightly proud of the dial so that it is crisp and legible.
All of which is housed within a 40mm titanium case that has been given a burnished brown PVD coating to match the dial.

Flight Case - The watch has a versatile 40mm titanium case with short lugs and a height of just 10.9mm, so it’s a great fit on the wrist. The case of the Barnwell has been given a burnished brown PVD coating to match the dial. As the case is made from titanium, the watch is 25g lighter than the Pilot Series I.
Faraday Cage - Thanks to our inner soft-iron Faraday cage, the watch is protected from any potentially harmful magnetic fields up to 500 Gauss. This is over eight times the standard level of anti-magnetic protection required to comply with ISO 764 certification for anti-magnetic watches.
Swiss Precision - The watch is powered by the robust Swiss Made Sellita SW300-1 automatic calibre. A real pillar of Swiss movements, renowned for its accuracy, dependability and longevity.
STORY
The Barnwell is named after two brothers, Frank and Harold Barnwell. They built the first successful powered aircraft made in Scotland in 1909.
In 1911, the brothers moved to England, and in 1912, Harold gained his pilot's licence and joined the staff of the new Vickers School of Flying at Brooklands. By late 1914, he was the chief test pilot with Vickers Limited, and it was whilst undertaking a test flight of the prototype Vickers Vampire in 1917 that he was sadly killed in an air crash.
Meanwhile, upon moving to England, Frank became an aircraft designer and briefly joined the Royal Flying Corps in 1914 before returning to design and creating the renowned Bristol Fighter. For most of the remainder of his life, he served as Bristol's head of design, designing aircraft such as the Bristol Bulldog and Bristol Blenheim. He was sadly killed in an aircraft crash in 1938, whilst his three sons would all be killed serving in the RAF in World War Two.
