TITANS OF THE DEEP

In the eight years since the Aqua Compressors first debuted, they have undergone numerous iterations and firmly established themselves as highly functional dive watches with a signature Farer twist. These three new models are no different. The ever-popular Endeavour returns, along with two new models, the Endeavour Ocean Blue and the Hecla Hunter Green.

Originally invented in the 1950s by Ervin Piquerez S.A., the super compressor was designed to achieve greater water resistance by using the water pressure exerted on the case to further compress the watch’s gaskets and thus make it more watertight. Farer has resurrected this novel technology for our Aqua Compressor collection, which uses modern materials such as a lightweight titanium case, sapphire crystal, and Super-LumiNova.

For every Aqua Compressor sold, Farer will continue to donate a portion of the profits to the Hebridean Whale and Dolphin Trust. The HWDT is a marine conservation charity that works to help protect the fragile state of our sealife through their programme of research. Through their study, the trust helps to inform the government of the best means to preserve and strengthen the future of Scottish Hebridean marine life.

We are proud to have already raised £53,500 with our first and second series, and with the third release of the Aqua Compressors, we aim to hit our target of £75,000.

Thank you for your support.

Design

Compressor Innovation

Whether you’re looking for a dive buddy or a go-everywhere timepiece, the specification and hypoallergenic finish of the Titanium Series Aqua Compressor collection delivers a set of highly wearable and robust tool watches. Developed to put clarity at the forefront, the dial designs are a bold take on the Farer classic. With oversized split minute hand marking, used for quick identification of time elapsed against the internal bezel.

Water resistance

As the pressure on the outside of the case increases, the gaskets are compressed so that the case becomes more water resistant.

Front crystal

The sapphire double curved crystal (1) has a thickness of 2.3mm to resist pressure. Secured by a rectangular cross section gasket (2).

Movement crown

The movement crown (3) has 2 O’ring gaskets (4). The water resistance is 100m when the crown is unscrewed, by screwing the crown in, an additional gasket (5) is compressed to secure the full 300m rating.

FUNCTION FIRST

FUNCTION FIRST

As dedicated dive watches, the Aqua Compressors put function first. Clarity and accuracy are paramount, so the dials of each Aqua Compressor feature high-contrast colours and oversized hour markers, alongside a healthy application of the latest Grade X2 Super-LumiNova. The same is true of the chunky pencil handset and the internal rotating bezel. Protecting each easy-to-read dial is a 2.2mm thick double-domed sapphire crystal with multiple layers of internal anti-reflective coating.

TITANIUM STRENGTH

TITANIUM STRENGTH

The curved case of the Aqua Compressor is made from titanium, which is the ideal material for a dive watch thanks to its extremely corrosion-resistant properties and light weight. Just like vintage super compressors, the case uses the compression principle: as the water pressure on the outside of the case increases, gaskets built around the key areas are naturally compressed, so that the case becomes more water-resistant the deeper you dive.

"While the case appears almost simple, it’s quite the piece of engineering."

UPDATED MECHANICS

UPDATED MECHANICS

This latest generation of Aqua Compressors is powered by the La Joux-Perret G101. This Swiss-made automatic calibre has seen widespread use in our Three Hand collection and has proven itself an accurate and reliable movement. With 24 jewels, a beat rate of 28,800 bph (4Hz), and an exceptionally long 68-hour power reserve, the LJP G101 is the ideal power source for the Aqua Compressor. It’s also the highest grade of movement that La Joux-Perret offers, which they call their "soignée" standard. This means that each movement is individually adjusted for accuracy in four different positions, as well as featuring some custom decoration. You can view this decoration through a sapphire case back. And, to enhance both its beauty and corrosion-resistance, the movement has been electroplated with a striking anthracite grey coating and a rotor customised with golden waves.
